Qualification for the role of director or senior officer of MAEL

A senior officer is any person with executive responsibility within MAEL, (e.g. chief executive, finance director, chief examiner.)

1.   An understanding of, and general agreement with, the main tenets of the Montessori approach; together with a commitment to do nothing which might bring the good name of Montessori into disrepute.

2.   The appointee shall not be the subject of:

(a) any criminal convictions,

The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 precludes the requirement to disclose spent convictions, and any such convictions would not debar the individual from office-holding.   However, voluntary disclosure would be treated favourably.

(b) any finding by a court or any professional, regulatory, or government body that he or she has breached a provision of any legislation or any regulatory obligation to which he or she is subject,

(c) any instance of bankruptcy or any individual financial arrangements to which he or she is or has been subject,

(d) any occasion on which he or she has been disqualified from holding the directorship of a company or from public office,

(e) any finding of malpractice or maladministration, in relation to a qualification (whether a regulated qualification or a qualification which is not regulated), to which he or she is or has been subject.

3.  Full disclosure of any relevant factors at the time of appointment (or immediately after any change of circumstances) including, but not restricted to, instances listed in 2. above, actual or potential conflict of interest, existing commitments.

4.  This policy statement shall be made available prior to any appointment and the appointing body shall obtain a signed confirmation of acceptance.

I confirm I have read these qualifications and have declared[1] any relevant facts.
